As part of its digitalization strategy "People in Digital Transformation", the University of Bern is pursuing two goals in each of five subject areas.

- The University of Bern plays an active role in shaping the digital transformation of society by distinguishing itself regionally, nationally and internationally with its special expertise in the field of the human being in digital transformation.
- The University of Bern takes a holistic view of the human being in digital transformation by taking into account not only the technical, economic and legal aspects of digitalization, but also its individual and social consequences.
Research
- The University of Bern creates basic and applied knowledge on the key topic of the human being in Digital Transformation.
- The University of Bern promotes the exchange of knowledge on the key topic between internal and external researchers, the critical reflection of research results, and the sustainable transfer of knowledge to society.
Teaching
- The University of Bern is a place for face-to-face teaching that is complemented by digital teaching and learning methods.
- Graduates of the University of Bern are qualified to use digital tools, to help shape the process of digital change, and to monitor it critically.
Infrastructure
